"Mouse Mover™ really works – and here's my amazing story!" By Richard Thalheimer. Years ago, The Sharper Image introduced a product called the UPD (for Ultrasonic Pest Deterrent) and we advertised it in our catalogs with a funny little cartoon mouse character "sent packing" – an unwelcomed guest! But that product moved on and our company moved on...until last summer. Here's my story: I keep my little Beech Bonanza prop plane in a hangar at a small airport in a rural part of the county where I live, about 30 miles north of San Francisco. We've always had a mouse problem in that hangar. The pesky rodents like to climb into the landing gear; they get into the plane's wiring. It can be dangerous! I'm embarrassed to admit I had forgotten about our old "Mouse Mover™" but we tried everything else! We put mouse guards around the wheels; large stick pads underneath; poisons and traps – but nothing solved this persistent mouse problem. Then one day last August, I was checking out my plane and an old-timer pilot walked by the open door of the hangar. He asked, "How's it going?" So I mentioned the mice. And he boasted that he hadn't had any problem with mice at all for 15 years – ever since he purchased a UPD from The Sharper Image, and had I ever heard of the company?! He walked me over to his own hangar, where he proudly showed me his old UPD "Mouse Mover" that – literally – was duct-taped to a post! Ever since he installed it, he said, the mouse problems in his hangar were solved. (I know where they went!) Needless to say, I told him who I was and that I was extremely motivated to get an improved version of this "Mouse Mover" product back into production, so everyone could enjoy the success he had. I unearthed an old model myself and guess what? I've had no mice problems since plugging it in almost a year ago. This is great news! |
